Standard dimension for monitor and photo

We are using monitor for different purposes: mobile screen, computer, television etc. But there is no fixed dimension or ratio. Simply think about a mobile phone monitor. Sometimes it is too large or sometimes it is too small. As the manufacturers failed to reach agreement, we are being harassed for this. Both users and website/applications developers are being disturbed. Here a standard dimension for monitor is proposed. Remember, it is the dimension of screen, not of device. And all screens must be of 3:2 ratios.  All video recordings, TV channel broadcast, movie making etc. will follow 3:2 ratio.

STANDARD MONITOR DIMENSION

@ Small screen, width 9 CM & height 6 CM, may be used for
- mobile phone monitor (normal, smart phone, others)
- digital camera monitor, video camera monitor
- television monitor (specially for car, CC TV etc)
- palmtop computer, e-book reader
- others

@ Normal screen, width 36 CM & height 24 CM, may be used for
- television (normal size)
- computer (desktop, laptop etc)
- video games, e-book reader
- others

@ Large screen, width 72 CM & height 48 CM, may be used for
- large size television (for longer rooms)
- video games
- computer monitor (everything will be 4 times larger when shown)
- to run specialized software
- others

@ Giant screen, width 1500 CM & height 1000 CM, may be used for
- to show movie or live telecast in stadium
- to show outputs of super computer
- to run specialized software
- others

We have the same problem about photo dimension. As there is no declared or widely accepted standard dimension, so digital camera manufacturers and users are creating different sizes worldwide. Here is my proposal about a standard dimension for photo. If digital camera, scanner, photo editing softwares, websites follow this standard, then we will get same dimension everywhere.

STANDARD PHOTO DIMENSION

 width - 2 CM, height 3 CM, ratio 2:3, may be used for
- Photo ID card

@ Profile photo
width - 4 CM, height 6 CM, ratio 2:3, may be used for
- Photo of CV/Profile,
- Passport photo
- Photo ID
- Social networking websites profile photo, etc

@ Normal Photo
width - 12 CM, height 8 CM, ratio 3:2, OR
width - 8 CM, height 12 CM, ratio 2:3, may be used for
- Studio print for printed photo album

@ Stream photo
width - 18 CM, height 12 CM, ratio 3:2, OR
width - 12 CM, height 18 CM, ratio 2:3, may be used for
- online album
- to show in acceptable size in computer monitor
- studio print for printed album

@ Wallpaper photo
width - 33 CM, height 22 CM, ratio 3:2, OR
width - 22 CM, height 33 CM, ratio 2:3, may be used for
- computer wallpaper
- highest size for ‘Stream’ photograph which is easy to resize or crop

@ Poster photo
width - 66 CM, height 44 CM, ratio 3:2, OR
width - 44 CM, height 66 CM, ratio 2:3, may be used for
- poster,
- portrait on wall

@ Canvas photo
width - 150 CM, height 100 CM, ratio 3:2, OR
width - 100 CM, height 150 CM, ratio 2:3, may be used for
- canvas etc

@ Billboard photo
width - 1500 CM, height 1000 CM, ratio 3:2, OR
width - 1000 CM, height 1500 CM, ratio 2:3, may be used for
- billboard etc

It is the chart for photos of 40 dpcm resolution. But if the photo contains 120 dpcm, it will be called 'photo' plus. For example, 'Stream' photo for 40 dpcm and 'Stream Plus' photo for 120 dpcm. Ratio and possible uses will remain same.

 

মনিটর ও ছবির জন্য প্রমিত আকৃতি

মোবাইল স্ক্রীন, কম্পিউটার, টিভি - বিভিন্ন ক্ষেত্রে মনিটর ব্যবহৃত হয়। কিন্তু কোন নির্ধারিত আকৃতি বা অনুপাত নেই। সাধারনভাবে একটি মোবাইল ফোনের মনিটর নিয়েই চিন্তা করুন। কখনো এটা অনেক বড় বা কখনো এটা অনেক ছোট। যেহেতু উৎপাদনকারীরা একটি চুক্তিতে উপনীত হতে ব্যর্থ হয়েছেন, আমরা তাই এর জন্য ঝামেলা অনুভব করছি। ব্যবহারকারি এবং ওয়েবসাইট/অ্যাপ্লিকেশান নির্মাতা উভয়ই এজন্য বিরক্ত। এখানে মনিটরের জন্য একটি প্রমিত আকৃতি প্রস্তাব করা হচ্ছে। লক্ষ করুন, এটা স্ক্রীন এর আকৃতি, ডিভাইসের নয়। এবং প্রতিটা স্ক্রীন হবে ৩:২ অনুপাতের। সব ভিডিও রেকর্ডিং, টেলিভিশন সম্প্রচার, চলচ্চিত্র নির্মাণ ইত্যাদি ৩:২ অনুপাত অনুসরন করবে।

ছবির আকৃতি নিয়েও আমাদের একই ধরনের সমস্যা আছে। যেহেতু ঘোষিত বা ব্যাপক স্বীকৃত কোন প্রমিত আকৃতি নেই তাই ডিজিটাল ক্যামেরা নির্মাতা এবং ব্যবহারকারিরা পৃথিবীজুড়ে ভিন্ন ভিন্ন আকৃতির ছবি তৈরি করছে। এখানে ছবির প্রমিত আকৃতির জন্য একটি প্রস্তাব রয়েছে। যদি ডিজিটাল ক্যামেরা, স্ক্যানার, ছবি সম্পাদনার সফটওয়্যার, ওয়েবসাইট এই মান অনুসরন করে, তবে আমরা সর্বত্র একই আকৃতি পাব।

এটা হল 40 dpcm resolution এর ছবির চার্ট। কিন্তু ছবিটি যদি 120 dpcm এর হয়, তবে এটাকে সে ছবির "প্লাস" বলে চিহ্নিত করা হবে। যেমন, 40 dpcm হল "Stream" ছবির জন্য ও 120 dpcm হবে "Stream Plus" ছবির জন্য। অনুপাত ও ব্যবহারের শর্ত পূর্বের মতই হবে।
